African Anniversary Session For the Adventure-Loving Couple

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/gizRcc0fz9I/

There are anniversaries, and then there are anniversaries set amongst the Tanzanian landscape at the Serengeti Bushtops. The former is the incredible celebration we’re about to unfold. Designed by Joy Proctor and photographed KT Merry, it’s all the reason you’ll ever need to begin planning an African honeymoon, anniversary, or “just because” trip with the one you love. Peek back at part one or dive straight into the gallery right this way.

“Vicky and Jon chose to spend their anniversary

surrounded by the magic of the African wilderness.”

-Joy Proctor Design

From Joy Proctor… After their wedding, Vicky and Jon chose to spend their anniversary surrounded by the magic of the African wilderness. Inspired by the beauty of the Tanzanian landscape and organic details of the Serengeti Bushtops they took a small plane into the remote camp and brought along photographer KT Merry Photography to capture their adventure. Setting out on the first day they gathered their backpacks, binoculars, and hats and headed out to see the animals. After a picnic lunch under a tree, and a long drive around the reserve they headed back to camp to get ready for a beautiful, candlelit dinner. Changing into a flowing Elie Saab gown and a clean suit, Vicky and Jon enjoyed dinner surrounded by candle lanterns.

Trend Alert: Gems & Geodes Wedding Inspiration

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bridalmusings/~3/cnPh7naRcEU/

We are suckers for wedding trends.

Whether it was naked naked cakes or crop top wedding dresses more recently, or mason jars and woodland animals a few years back, we’re always ready to embrace the next big thing in weddings.

And right now, all things geometric and geological are having a bit of a moment. And with their jewel tones and touches of metallics and sparkle, they’re pretty perfect for autumnal weddings.

And today’s gorgeous shoot by Alex Lasota Photography shows us just how to style them, with event design by Tin Sparrow Events, a film by Jennavieve Films, and the creative skills of a host of talented vendors.

Gems & Geodes Wedding Inspiration | Alex Lasota Photography | TinSparrow Events | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 1

This cool shoot pretty much speaks for itself (look out for the bold berry make-up and the beautiful tablescaping!) but to give you an idea of what it’s all about, Alex Lasota is here to share a little more about the concept…

About the Shoot

Our concept was build around the colorful aspects of “Gems and Geodes.”

In Eastern Washington, we live in a desert terrain, and felt incorporating more desert-inspired details, truly highlighted our area in a unique way, which not many have done.

With fall coming we decided to play on the blue, pink, red, and purple color palette, incorporating bold and strong colors to cohesively tell the story.

From the details of the dress to the sketching of the invites, to the intricacy of the cake, each element held its own in a bold way.

A Modern Couple’s Guide to Wedding Planning

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bridalmusings/~3/v4t-bdbJDFE/

As someone who’s just recently had a wedding that was ever-so-slightly alternative, I wish this post was around a year ago. But I’m glad I’m at least getting to pass on the wisdom to you guys today.

Anytime you do something a little bit ‘different’ with your wedding, you’re likely to come into a barrage of questions about it. ‘Why aren’t you having a first dance?’. ‘But you have to have a wedding cake’. ‘You can’t just not have bridesmaids!’ …are all things I’ve heard over recent months.

But today we’ve got the fabulous Laura Holden, Creative Director at Holden Bespoke, a modern and creative London-based wedding planning and styling company, working across the UK (and beyond!) on hand. And she’s treating us to some seriously sound advice on staying steadfast in your mission to create a day that might be a little unique, unusual, or quirky, but that’s also quintessentially ‘you’.

Take it away, Laura…

Modern Bride's Guide to Wedding Planning | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog

The perfect ring is on your finger and your Pinterest board is overflowing with inspiration.

Maybe your heart is set on an organic feeling, rustic affair in the countryside, an intimate and informal London pub wedding, a warehouse wedding overflowing with colourful details or a modern and contemporary gallery with clean lines and fashion-forward bridesmaids.

All that’s important to you is that the day is filled with well… some personality!

Soon though, you might find yourself at odds with parents who have specific ideas about what your bridesmaids should wear (it’s long, floaty and nothing like the two-piece Olivia Palermo-inspired outfit you had in mind) or shuddering when people ask the inevitable question about your “colour-palette”.

Starting to consider ideas you’ve seen at other weddings just because they are a bit more middle of the road is an easy trap to fall into.

Well, my dear modern bride, with so much on your plate it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but fear not – these are my top tips for blazing your own trail down a road paved with traditions.

1. Focus on the Feels, not the Palette

Stunning-Bali-Wedding-Terralogical-Bridal-Musings-Wedding-Blog-77-630x944

Photo by Terralogical Photography via Bridal Musings

A great starting point for ideas is to think about how you want people to feel.

Do you want a laid-back, intimate approach where your guests will all mix and mingle, do you want them to feel very much at home or that they are having a fun, new and exciting experience?

Think of the best party you can imagine going to and then scale it up until it feels right for you.

If you don’t want to commit to just a couple of colours you don’t have to – there are always ways to bring together your inspiration with colours you love so it blends seamlessly.

2. Don’t Let ‘Shouldn’t’ Come into it

Romantic Wedding with Foliage Decor | Perregeaux Wedding Photography | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 8

Photo by Perregeaux Photography via Bridal Musings

It’s so easy to come up with a vision of what a wedding should look like, with traditions that seem built in to the structure of the day.

But take a step back.

If being given away by a parent doesn’t feel right to you, there are so many other options that could fit better. How about your best friend by your side, walking hand in hand with your love or owning the room to go solo with confidence? Perhaps you could both be standing up front together when your guests arrive, or if you both cycle – hop on a bike down the aisle!

No matter what, you should feel comfortable with every part of the day and you can choose the parts you like and leave out the ones you don’t.

3. Find Suppliers you Love

Amazing 4th of July Wedding | Sarah Shreves Photography | Orange Blossom Special Events | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 51

Photo by Sarah Shreves Photography via Bridal Musings

Finding the right suppliers is crucial to making your wedding a breeze.

Each one you consider will have different styles and approaches and if you take time to look for ones that will not only share your style and vision but encourage and develop it, you’ll soon find a whole team that’s on your side and invested in making your wedding amazing.

That way, when someone suggests you might want sugared almonds for your favours you’ve got great back up with new, interesting options to suggest that home made pesto is a much better fit for your Italian vineyard inspired jamboree.

4. Focus the Budget where it has Impact for you

Cool & Colourful Fiesta Wedding | Plain Jane Photography | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 55

Photo by Plain Jane Photography via Bridal Musings

There’s no getting around it – weddings are more expensive than they were thirty, twenty or even ten years ago but the industry and services on offer are more varied, exciting and can add some incredibly personal touches to your day.

If you met at a concert and go to festivals every year then music is likely to influence your day in a big way – prioritise this in your budget!

If you’ve hit every craft brewery in the country make food and drink the centre of attention.

Figure out the top three things that matter most to both of you and this will make a huge impact on the vibe of your day.

5. Stay Relaxed

It’s easy to get frustrated if you feel like people don’t ‘get’ what you are going for but there are bound to be people around you who do understand it.

They know you and they know the choices you are making will bring you the most happiness on your wedding day.

Talk about your plans with those people and stay relaxed.

The important part is that on the day everyone will have an incredible time and most likely – those things they never thought about, that you wanted to include –will be the lasting and special memories because they were so personal to you.

Bonus Tip: Show, Don’t Tell

Photo by Maui Maka Photography via Bridal Musings

When you tell somebody about an idea but they have no frame of reference it can be really difficult for them to visualise it.

If you are talking to your grandma about a naked cake or your mum is unsure about mismatched bridesmaid dresses show them some images that you love!

That way they can see how it works and share your enthusiasm.

Seriously great advice, right? I love it when we get to share useful, practical tips like these ones and it’s so helpful that there are ideas, not only for how to put together a cool, modern wedding, but also for how to be diplomatic in getting all your friends and family excited about it too – which is so important!

Thanks so much to Laura for sharing her expert insights. For more awesome ideas, check out the Holden Bespoke website, and follow Laura’s daily inspirations on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.

A Day That Completely Defines “Dream Wedding”

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/n0yzRIxqTZQ/

Old world glamour is the name of the game for this Sonoma affair and the images by Meghan Mehan Photography? Quite frankly, they’re the stuff wedding dreams are made of. The Hayley Paige dress. The staircase ceremony. The ivory bouquets tied up with satin ribbon. It all adds up to a standing ovation for ROQUE Events and you better not miss the gallery or film by Josh Harney below.

The wedding of Camelia and Mark was majestic and sweet as the rain clouds hovered throughout the afternoon. A ray of sunshine was destined to peek through as guests patiently awaited the wedding party to enter the ceremony at Sonoma Golf Club. The wind blew the soft ivory drapery and crystal chandelier every so lightly where the romantic bride and groom would say ‘I Do’ and exchange their vows. Garlands of bay and pink roses adorned the staircase railing creating an enchanting look and feel that added a special touch of sweetness to the wedding festivities. As in wine country, 2 barrels lined either side of the aisle with tall gold floral arrangements making the centerpiece of the ceremony pop with a dreamy flare. Gorgeous bridesmaids wore soft pink gowns and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos, making this an elegant cocktail affair. The beautiful bride wore the ultimate flowy gown by Hayley Paige that paired perfectly with her loose hand tied bouquet of ivory garden roses, ranunculus, olive, majolica and spray roses tied in ivory satin.

The decor was filled with a romantic color palette of white, ivory, blush, gold and black. La Tavola Linen draped the dining tables and sweetheart table with mixed metal votives, stunning centerpieces and custom table names with the places the bride and groom have traveled to around the world. Greenery strung on the 4 chandeliers hanging over the dance floor was the perfect addition to make the design come together.

The 4-tier ivory wedding cake was absolutely stunning with embellished gold and silver accents and textures. The Mr. and Mrs. and their guests enjoyed the sweet flavors of s’mores by the open fire after dinner. Everyone snuggled up with white fleece throws and embraced the love for Camelia and Mark. It was the perfect day to celebrate such a romantic couple. We wish them so much love and happiness!

Super Chic Destination Wedding in Italy

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bridalmusings/~3/4put6gnIOns/

Hello lovelies, Claire here.

So you may have noticed we’ve been on a bit of a hiatus over the past few weeks, that’s because I was off getting hitched (it was awesome, I’ll fill you guys in on all the details soon!) and Elizabeth and I were cooking up some exciting changes coming to the blog later this year (which you’re going to LOVE!).

But now, we’re back for good, and we’ve got an especially gorgeous real wedding to celebrate.

Fabienne & Fabio’s effortlessly chic destination wedding in Italy, with pictures by one of our favourite Italian photographers, Stefano Santucci.

Beautiful Italian Wedding | Stefano Santucci Photography | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 78

With the stunning hillside town Monforte d’Alba in Northern Italy as their backdrop, Fabienne and Fabio’s day was influenced in every way by their setting, from the limoncello favours to the olive garland decor.

Their ceremony was held in a stunning old church, followed by a stroll through the town, photographs on a vineyard, and even a ride on a moto gave a nod to their destination.

With a gorgeous wedding dress (look out for the pretty bow on the removable train) and a dapper mix and match suit, the Swiss couple set the tone for their stylish affair.

This gorgeous wedding reminds us (not that we needed reminding), that whether it’s Piedmont or Portofino, there’s just something so idyllic, romantic, and downright photogenic about weddings in Italy.

From the Photographer

The lovely Stefano Santucci shared a little more about Fabienne & Fabio’s beautiful bash…

Fabienne and Fabio’s wedding was a lovely celebration of love in Monforte d’Alba, a little colourful town in Piedmont, in the Northern Italy.

Surrounded by hectares of characteristic vineyards, Monforte d’Alba is part of the zone of the noble Barolo wine production.

Coming from Switzerland, Fabienne and Fabio, have different origins, and they decided to get married in Italy to have that Italian flavour for their big day.

They tied the knot in Saint Augustine Church, that used to be an abandoned church located in the upper part of the town. Thanks to Fabienne’s beautiful planning, it became a gorgeous late ‘600 Baroque church, filled with the scent of the olive branches and peonies.

The marriage was a very emotional ceremony also thanks to the speeches of the sisters of the couple. Then the couple and all they guests moved to Palazzo Martinengo, which is an amazing palace just few streets away from the church, where the luncheon was held, in the terrace with a breathtaking view of the Langhe landscape.

But the party continued all night in the outstanding venue Villa Beccaris, where was served the dinner followed by the dances.

Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson’s Wedding

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/mcPAYXAIR_A/

Shawn and Andrew? They’re the definition of a power couple. Shawn, an Olympic Gold Medalist currently commentating in Rio, and Andrew, a Long Snapper for the Oakland Raiders, said “I do” with a celebration that felt uniquely and completely “them” planned by Fete Nashville. If you ask us, there’s no better way to lead up to tonight’s Olympic closing ceremonies than a trip to the wedding gallery photographed by Wild Native Co. plus a peek back at their adorable engagement.

I don’t think our wedding day

could have been any more perfect

…or any more “us.”

Andrew surprised Shawn by singing

“You’ve got a friend in me”

From Fete NashvillePlanning Shawn Johnson + Andrew East’s wedding was a dream come true! It was pretty exciting from the beginning when Andrew, a long snapper for the Oakland Raiders proposed to his sweetheart, Shawn, a gold Medal Olympic gymnast, at Wrigley Field right after she threw out the first pitch!

We started planning right away and chose the top of a hill for the ceremony, with 360’ of countryside views at a farm in Franklin, Tennessee. The alter was designed with gorgeous whitewashed antique church windows dripping with flowers, honeysuckle, and vines with more natural elements at the base including logs and lots of candles.

Jack Daniel’s barrels served as aisle markers holding the most beautiful flower arrangements of white peonies, ranunculus & dahlias, ivory garden roses, and lots of textured greens. The bridal party walked through custom barn doors and down the aisle decorated with lanterns, candles and flowers. After the “i do’s, the new Mr. And Mrs. East jumped up with excitement to the cheers from all their friends and family and danced their way back down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s “signed, sealed, delivered!”

At the reception, Andrew surprised Shawn by singing “You’ve got a friend in me” with his father playing the piano accompaniment. As a late night snack, we had the famous Ellie’s doughnuts food truck come to serve sweet treats to all of the guests. At the end of the night, Shawn and Andrew ran through sparklers to a silver Rolls Royce. At 7 incredibly delicious layers, the wedding cake was taller than the bride!

The reception was lovely with Shawn + Andrew sitting in an ivory love seat with custom “bro” & “bug” signs on the back; their nicknames for each other. Gold calligraphy on white washed wood hanging with gold silk ribbon. Head table made up of several reclaimed wood farm tables with vintage lace runner. 25’ ladder covered in greenery installed over the head table with exposed bulbs hanging. White french urns and mercury candles with loose and flowing greens.

Guest tables: a combination of farm tables and rounds with ivory linens. Centerpieces of barn wood boxes filled with low, lush greens hanging over loose and whimsical. Shawn’s gown is a glamorous silk duchess trumpet silhouette with a soft geometrical lace bodice. Matching lace trim along the hem of her gown also appears on the removable silk satin organza cathedral train. Shawn’s gown features the Elena Zavozina signature keepsake pearls cascading down the back of her gown. Shawn also had her custom headpiece and jewelry designed by European designer Elena Zavozina designed Shawn’s dress, all nine bridesmaids dresses and Andrew’s entire custom suit

From the Newlyweds… Fete Nashville truly made my fairytale wedding come true! I don’t think our wedding day could have been any more perfect or any more “us.” From how it ran to the details, Fete Nashville thought of for Andrew and I. They blew us away and we couldn’t have been happier!!!
