How to Host the Ultimate Wedding Meets Vacay

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/NCrNgLajfcs/

Destination weddings are amazing. And not just because you get to rush off to paradise to say “I do” with your future hubs. That part’s obviously awesome, but so is the vacation you’re taking with all of your loved ones. Not sure how to host the perfect destination soiree? We’ve got you covered. From choosing the right locale to serving up the tasty treats, we’re running down five fab steps to a crazy cool wedding meets vacay below.

CHOOSE AN AMAZING LOCALE

First thing’s first. You can’t say “I do” without a fabulous locale, so when narrowing down your options for the perfect place to celebrate, making sure your venue is one part wedding central and one part fun-filled destination is key. Think relaxing on the beach with your loved ones in Hawaii, spa days with your fiancé in Napa, soaking in the views aboard the deck of a Disney Cruise Line or saying “I do” against a castle backdrop (or overlooking a savanna of African animals!) at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. And that’s just a sample itinerary.

INVITE YOUR NEAREST + DEAREST

They say the more the merrier, and when it comes to tying the knot in paradise, that couldn’t be more true. Because, honestly, what’s more amazing than activity-filled days spent with your besties (did someone say paddle boarding?), followed by everyone you love witnessing you + yours making it official? Plus, who wouldn’t love a little fun + relaxation, all in the name of love? Answer: no one.

DON’T FORGET THE WELCOME BAGS

Your guests are traveling far and wide for the big day, so making sure they are pampered for the entire wedding week/weekend is an absolute must. Start by greeting them with welcome bags that really set the tone for your event… and provide them with items that will come in handy as they navigate all of the fun. We’re talking bottled water, aspirin, sunblock and tasty treats from the area for a fabulous greeting they’ll absolutely love.

Photography: KT Merry

PLAN FUN-FILLED ACTIVITIES

Your wedding may be THE event of the weekend, but having an itinerary of fun-filled activities for all of your guests to enjoy is great, too. From surfing to sight seeing to hiking through the gorgeous scenery, you’ll want to make sure your guests are staying busy… and that goes for you, too. I mean, calming those nerves with a picnic on the beach with the one you love? We call that awesome.

Photography: Jose Villa

CELEBRATE!

The key to any great wedding + vacation? Bring those party shoes and get ready to celebrate. Whether that’s a special dinner seaside with your fiancé, toasting those you love at your welcome party or simply kicking back with a Mai Tai on the beach, truly taking the time to relax and enjoy the most important moment of your life is so, so necessary. Which is why destination weddings are just so dang fabulous… and why finding a partner like Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons is beyond important. Someone who will handle all of the little details + planning, so you can literally be a guest at your own wedding. In other words? Hosting a destination wedding is the ultimate celebration + vacay all in one. And we LOVE.

A Majestic Garden Celebration in the Most Gorgeous San Francisco Venue

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/Z0EqJey1XkE/

San Francisco City Hall is one of the most magical venues in all the land. The architecture and grand sweeping staircases are beyond breathtaking all on their own but when you add a team of wedding masterminds to the roster, it’s downright majestic. That team includes Laurie Arons, Honey of a Thousand Flowers, Paula LeDeuc and Jose Villa just to name a few. See how they transformed this gorgeous venue into a stunning garden in the city.

From the planner… Early in their engagement, Michelle & Paul dreamed of a San Francisco City Hall ceremony, followed by a reception at her family’s home in Piedmont. But as the planning got underway, the couple had an even better idea. They switched venues, instead hosting a beautiful garden ceremony in her parents’ backyard, with the celebration to follow at San Francisco’s stately City Hall. The bride’s love of botanicals became the inspiration for the wedding design. Her sister, Beth Rabkin of Seaview Studio, designed the save the dates and invitations featuring hand-drawn florals. Floral designer Sarah Winward took that floral inspiration to abundance, creating a wild & romantic chuppah and free flowing bouquets for ceremony. To make room for 155 guests, we covered the family’s swimming pool and arranged the ceremony chairs on three sides for an intimate feel. Not wanting to leave that natural beauty behind when we moved to the indoor reception, Sarah’s team brought towering trees and plants into the City Hall Rotunda, with spilling centerpieces on every table. Amber Moon Design wrapped each guest’s menu in a light leaf print vellum, for another touch of greenery. But perhaps my favorite botanical influence were the escort cards — framed and pressed flowers penned with Roman numeral table numbers site by Curlicue Designs.

Escape to Charleston for a Summery Wedding with a Pop of Color

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/cuhiy4BGCLk/

The pretty pink buildings of Charleston are the perfect backdrop for a Summer wedding; especially one filled with gorgeous pops of color like this inspiration masterminded by Cheers Darling Events and Lisa Zeising for Abby Jui. That color comes in the form of bright peonies, anemones and a whole wall of florals and greenery crafted by Frampton’s Flowers. See how romantic lace gowns and brightly hued southern charm can go hand in hand with even more in the vault!

Taking inspiration from the bright, light summer, we escaped to Charleston to bring pops of color and rays of gorgeous light to life. Couples from across the country (and world!) flock to Charleston, South Carolina to share southern charm, warm weather, beautiful views and amazing food with their guests from far and wide. Knowing the city, we wanted the day to feel bright and welcoming – highlighting the best elements of the Holy City. Rich green palms, white wash chairs, pops of bright, lush blooms gave life and fun to the details – reflecting the “feeling” of Charleston. To beat the heat – homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches from Swank Desserts. Frampton’s Flowers brought only the brightest of blooms – peonies, anemones and more! Only the warmest of Southern welcome’s would do for the guests – A Signature Welcome curated the most beautiful basket filled with favorites from the city – local treats, candles and more. Reflecting on the traditional, southern side of the area – we incorporated a heirloom style ring from Croghan’s and lace in the wedding gown. Charleston destination clients find the fun balance between southern charm and sassy, modern twists! We wanted to show what the Charleston bride is looking for. A mix between their true southern traditntal roots but with a little fun and sass!

3 Simple Ways to Make Sure Your Wedding Reflects the Real You

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/Wa95WpoQXHk/

From Jill Kelly of Jillian Joseph Photography… If you’ve been to more than a handful of weddings, either as a guest or as part of the wedding party, you can most likely predict what the wedding day timeline will be and what key events will take place and in exact order. As a wedding photographer, I can tell you that many weddings, although beautiful, could be made even better if the couple infused more personality into the one day that is designed to celebrate them as a couple. My goal is to help you discover simple ways to personalize your wedding day so it reflects the real you rather than Pinterest trends.

DESIGN YOUR WEDDING WITH YOUR 5 SENSES

SCENT – Think about what scents you’d like you and your guests to experience. Maybe it’s a particular flower that is popular during the season you had your first date, or fresh eucalyptus because it’s soothing. Scent doesn’t have to be restricted to your florals either. Don’t forget about the aroma of great entrees, a warm cappuccino bar, or the scent of cigars. What will your guests smell during your wedding celebration? Sweet Jasmine? Fresh Eucalyptus? Spicy Thai food? Is there a scent that is a trigger for a great memory you’ve shared together? Be creative.

TOUCH – You may be wondering how you could possibly incorporate a sense of touch into your wedding day, but it’s really quite easy and part of a full experience. You can add texture with bamboo chairs, wood tables, linens, a handmade cotton paper invitation suite, and even your attire.

SOUND – What is more reflective of you as a couple? An acoustic guitarist who plays while everyone mingles, a live jazz band, or maybe a rock band? Or maybe you both love the sounds of an acoustic guitar.

TASTE – It’s okay to incorporate dishes and appetizers that go beyond fish, chicken, or beef. It’s fun to include food that’s reflective of your respective cultures, or representative of the places you’ve traveled. Give your guests a great culinary experience that not only tastes amazing but also reflects some part of your relationship.

SIGHT – Where will your wedding celebration take place? For years, it was common to have your wedding in a church and a reception in a ballroom. And, yes, that’s still done and I have seen some ballrooms transformed into spaces that will leave you speechless. But I encourage you to sit down together and make a list of different locations you both feel at home in. Will you choose a venue with the view of the city, or vineyard in California, or the mountains in Colorado, or maybe in your parent’s backyard? Location definitely sets the tone for your wedding day, so don’t be afraid to consult with your planner to see if a not-so-commonly used space can be chosen for your wedding.

LOOK AT YOUR HOME DECOR

Home is where we spend much of our time. It’s often a sacred space we retreat to after a long day to relax, unwind, and entertain our friends and family in. It’s one place we can just be ourselves. Take a look around your home, or your ideal home, and observe the layout. Is it minimalistic in design with lot of open space or is it cozy with several layers and textures? What types of surfaces are in your home? Sleek chrome and tile floors or distressed wooden floors and marble counters? Your home décor is typically a good reflection of your aesthetic likes and dislikes, which makes it the perfect source for your wedding day inspiration. Consult an experienced wedding designer to help you infuse these aspects into your wedding design.

THINK ABOUT HOW YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME

How you spend your free time is an important indicator of the overall feeling you should replicate at your wedding celebration. Who says you have to have a DJ or a 7-piece band with a four-hour reception? If you and your fiancée are a bit more reserved, maybe consider having a small and intimate wedding that spans the course of a weekend where you and your guests can indulge in some of the regional attractions. For example, spend a day wine tasting and apple picking or horseback riding in the mountains. Remember that your relationship is unique and your wedding celebration should be, too. Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful. In fact, it should be enjoyable. Don’t underestimate the value that an experienced wedding planner and designer can contribute to your overall experience. However, you chose to celebrate your marriage vows, remember to celebrate each other each and every day.

Top Wedding Entertainment Trends of 2017

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/akFaVW0mcSo/

It’s 2017. In this neoteric age of Instagram and Pinterest, brides have vision boards, pins, and “MUST-haves” before even stepping foot into their first potential vendor’s door. Every bride-to-be wants her wedding to be perfect, magical, but most importantly, one of a kind. Couples are coming up with more and more ways to make their wedding stand out, reevaluating the expectation to include what is considered the “norm” and giving more creative input than ever before in every area, including music and entertainment. Here at On the Move Entertainment, we believe every wedding is bespoke, we strive to make celebration dreams come true, and we are constantly acclimating to the times, so we’ve rounded up the eight most popular trends in wedding entertainment for 2017 to help inspire your big day.

Euro Flip

If you’re having a traditional sit down dinner, consider saving the dancing until after all the dining is complete (European style!) rather than dancing in-between courses.

Walk to Your Own Beat

Swap the classic strings ensemble at your ceremony for something a bit more unique to you. One of our biggest requests this year was to implement a beat to the ceremony music, so we decided to curate a brand-new group called “Pop Classical,” which features three live string pieces and a beatboxer. It has quickly become one of our most popular groups for wedding ceremonies.

Speech Don’t Kill My Vibe

More than ever, couples are asking their best man, MOH, parents, and whomever else is making a toast at the reception to keep their words to a minimum length as to not use up too much time in the reception or lose the energy of the party. Don’t be afraid to request your loved ones keep it “short and sweet.”

And All That Jazz… Or Not

For years, the music at a typical wedding cocktail hour consisted of a small ensemble, usually jazz or a classical genre. Often it was the reception band broken down into an acoustic duo or jazz trio. However, we’ve received so many requests this year to curate something unique for the couple’s cocktail hours, we created a small ensemble, “Hip Hop Jazz,” consisting of typical jazz instruments covering current hip-hop tunes for a modern, edgy vibe. It’s the perfect change up before heading into the reception. Don’t be afraid to pick an ensemble whose music represents you as a couple.

Formality Shmormality

Consider nixing mid-reception traditional formalities, such as the bouquet and garter toss, cake cutting, or formal introductions if they’re not your style and replacing them with some not-so-traditional formalities. Or just more dancing.

“I Do” It for the ‘Gram

Try out a new take on the always fun photo booth! Super popular this year have been the animated GIF booth, flip-book booth, Snapchat booth, 360 degree booth, anything involving Boomerang, and last but not least, the coveted multi-cam. Couples are even curating their own Instagram worthy setups by placing decor and backdrops in a specific area, knowing most guests have their own professional camera right in their pockets – an iPhone! Custom geo-filters for Snapchat and custom geo-tags for Instagram are also a must in 2017. How else will all the people who couldn’t make it see all of your amazing wedding details!?

I Did It My Way

In the past, a first dance was usually a meaningful ballad that the bride and groom would dance to slowly while gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes. In 2017, first dances are more innovative than ever – choreographed dances by the bride and groom, all-out performances involving the bridal party, and fully immersive, guest-involved pieces are frequent and often. Don’t believe us? One word: Youtube.

Cirque-Us

There’s a place for specialty talent at weddings now more than ever before. In the past few years, same-sex weddings have influenced this by not being so stuck on the traditional wedding components and embracing the idea of infusing more fun and entertainment into the day. Cirque performers, champagne serving aerialists, celebrity impersonators, and beautifully costumed performers to complete a specific theme are all finding their way out of the corporate industry and into the wedding industry. We recently had a stunning wedding at The Foundry in Long Island City where the entertainment was truly customized to the groom and groom’s vision. It started off with an intimate and sultry, live ensemble with a chanteuse vocalist performing interpretations of the couple’s favorite songs for the ceremony, then featured dancers dressed as peacocks during the cocktail hour, and finally, a flashmob-style performance choreographed for the couple’s first dance. To top it off, they coordinated a surprise, drag queen performance during the late night dance party!

A Few Fun Facts About the Wedding:

• The rehearsal dinner was at the Spoke and Steele restaurant located in the Le Meridian hotel in downtown Indianapolis – guests jammed to Hall & Oates and enjoyed carving stations and the restaurant’s custom cocktails
• Harvey, our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, was the “Ring Pup”, he wore a custom tuxedo with tails
• They could not have done it without our friends – the makeup artist, videographer, photographer, DJ, monogram designer and program designer were all friends of the Bride and Groom
• The Florist, Meg Catherine and Bride collaborated on a unique gift for both the Mother of the bride and Mother of the Groom, which was a custom clutch from Esty designer VincentVdesigns with a floral corsage pinned on the front and a secret message inside
• Instead of flower petals, the Flower Girl (niece of the Groom) threw gold leaves – a perfect alternative for an October wedding
• Instead of unity sand or candle, the Bride and Groom ordered a custom wine box from Etsy (engraved with their monogram) and made it into a time capsule (Inside: their vows, a lucky penny, bottle of wine and a copy of their program)
• Before the ceremony, guests enjoyed string quartet arrangements of modern hits like Huey Lewis and the News, “That’s the Power of Love” and The Killers, “When You Were Young”
• Kevin and Megan wrote their own vows which were very emotional – not a dry eye in the ceremony
• The Best Man and friend of the Groom’s sang Cyndi Lauper, “Time After Time” during the time capsule
• The Bride and Groom’s first dance was to “I Had the Time of My Life”, – Dirty Dancing choreography
• Bride and Father of the Bride danced to Heartland, “I Loved Her First”
• Groom and Mother of the Groom danced to Paul Simon, “Loves Me Like A Rock”
• Bride worn her late grandmother’s costume jewelry (earrings and cocktail ring)
• Kevin’s grandmother’s wedding ring was pinned to his boutonniere (He proposed to Megan with that ring)
• Kevin and Megan love fall and Halloween, so as a wedding favor the bride and groom put together a candy bar with custom treat bags
• The Groom surprised the Bride at their After-Wedding Brunch with a surprise trip to Walt Disney World, the bride is a Disney fanatic and had never been to the Disney World before

Inspired by Soft Neutrals, this Shoot is Finding Beauty in Simplicity

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/VqdwzgV4ceY/

Soft neutrals are the inspiration for this shoot and a stunning, simple elegance is at its core. Designed and photographed by Retrospect Images along with beautiful, lush florals by Three Sisters, take a peek at not one but three equally gorgeous ways to style a tablescape plus a whole slew of elegant details too (including a lineup of almost-too-pretty-to-eat cakes by Just Delightful Cakery). It’s all sitting pretty right here in the vault.

Inspired by a palette of soft neutrals and delicate textures, this fine art neutral wedding inspiration shoot emphasizes that simple is elegant and highlights the ethereal quality of subtle use of texture and very soft colors. The Barn at Tyge Williams Cellars provided our neutral backdrop, where the light poured into the neutral space of concrete floors and ivory paneled walls. We set our table to be inviting to those who may come to gather- each item thoughtfully place. We then re-styled the same table THREE different ways- a table with a floating arrangement for a more dramatic look, a simple more organic look with a simple arrangement, rustic bread/carving board, and a floor table with pillows outdoors. From the cakes to the gowns to the stationary, we sought to curate ethereal stunning details with the right balance of simplicity and elegance.
