10 Bridal Cover-Ups for Winter Weddings, From Cool to Classic

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bridalmusings/~3/kWzYV1lNByI/

Are you a winter bride looking for the perfect cover-up for your big day? You’re in luck!

The cold weather is coming (or if you’re in London, it’s well and truly here). And while that means warm cocktails, evergreen decor, an abundance of candlelight, and all the romance of a winter wedding, it also means brides in light dresses turning blue while they get their pictures taken.

Not a good look!

So today, we’re bringing you a round up of our favourite coats and cover-ups to leave you feeling toasty, or at least a little less exposed to the elements, on your big day.

If you’re opting for a wedding day cover-up, there are so many ways to go depending on your style.

You can keep it classic with a faux fur coat or wool wrap. Light cardis and sweaters make preppy cover-ups while still keeping things pretty and feminine. Vintage shawls, capes and hoods add a touch of glamour, or something sheer and sparkly is a light accessory that won’t change up your bridal look too much.

If you opt for a coat, channel the likes of Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama or Jackie O for chic and formal outerwear.

Then of course, you can go a little alternative instead. Lots of wedding dress designers (Ivy & Aster, Houghton NYC, Otaduy and Savannah Miller to name just a few) have been creating coats and jackets to match their aesthetics.

Likewise, you can ditch the bride tag altogether and look to your favourite stores and designers for kimonos, leather or denim jackets, sequin or silk bombers or cool tuxedo blazers and cropped coats.

Long gowns look awesome contrasted with short casual jackets, so don’t be afraid to mix up your look.

10 Unique & Alternative Engagement Rings

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/bridalmusings/~3/eFwe2SlN-WQ/

It’s still Engagement Week here at Bridal Musings, and over the last few days, we’ve been sharing advice and ideas for buying your one and only, the perfect engagement ring.

If you’re planning to pop the question to someone special, then they deserve a ring that’s just as unique as they are.

The other day, we shared some beautiful classic sparklers, but if the one in your life errs more on the side of all things eclectic, unusual or trendy, then we’ve got just the line up of alternative engagement rings they’ll adore.

Stackable Rings by Catbird

Choosing an alternative engagement ring can often be tricky, because the options are endless and the rulebook is out the window.

A unique engagement ring doesn’t have to be completely outlandish, it just steps outside the box of traditional diamond solitaires or classic setting and stone combinations.

You can opt for a diamond in a quirky setting, go for unusual stones in a vintage style ring, or mix things up with new metals, textured stones, and innovative settings.

Pay attention to your other half’s style, are they cool and minimal, do they love all things antique, are they into bright colours or bold statements, or do they love to wear something a little artistic or elaborate?

And if your choosing your own engagement ring (you lucky thing!) maybe one of these beauties will strike your fancy…

1. Romance in the Stone

More From the Couple

From the Groom…Karissa and I have known each other from a very young age. We met in Junior High school and started dating our freshman year of high school. I knew very early on that I wanted to spend my life with this girl. It took me all of about two weeks to fall madly and deeply in love with her, and that was it. I don’t know how else to explain it other then “when you know, you know.” The best part about it is that I got to grow up with her and experience everything the teen and early adult years had to offer with my best friend, and not many people can say that. A couple years after high school we moved to Denver, in an attempt to began our lives together as young adults. At this point, asking Karissa to marry me was not simply of matter “if”, but “when” and “how”.

On Karissa’s 21st birthday, we traveled to New York City to spend the week there exploring and celebrating her special day. At approximately 10:30 pm, after taking a beautiful scenic cruise around Manhattan, we rushed to Time Square for a “special surprise” and “reservations” I told Karissa we had. With her hand on my mine, family behind us, and ring in my pocket, we barreled through the rows and rows of people to the dead center of Times Square and New York City itself, where everybody could see. It was then and there where I finally asked my best friend to join me in marriage and spend the rest of her life with me, and it was the best decision I ever made.

From the Bride…Wyatt and I started dating in high school when we were fourteen years old. I fell in love with him just two weeks later and I knew that he would be the one that I would marry. Now, nearly a decade later, everything that captivated me about him in the first place still remains the same. He’s my best friend.

Both of us were born and raised in a small town in New Mexico. We wanted a change of scenery for our wedding so that’s why we chose Pasadena, California. It was somewhat spontaneous considering we currently live in Denver, CO and got engaged in New York City. That sums us up though: we love travel, love adventure and we both have no idea where we might end up next.

April 22nd on a beautiful, crystal clear day in sunny Pasadena we said our “I Do’s” at Villa Del Sol d’Oro surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was the very best day of my life.

A Farmers Market Proposal Turned Elegant Lakeside Wedding

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/O-rt2LShk9c/

If I were to plan my wedding all over again, I would show my vendors this wedding as inspiration and leave it at that. Because Jennifer and Nick truly planned a picture perfect day. Drenched in pretty pink hues and sweet kisses, Heather Payne Photography was behind the lens capturing every sweet moment and we’ve got it all waiting for you (and/or your vendors, *cough*cough*) in The Vault!

From Heather Payne PhotographyJennifer & Nick married in an intimate venue in Albany, New York with some of their closest family and friends. After our initial conversation together, I knew they were truly special and had the sweetest love story to tell. We met for their engagement photos months before in Massachusetts where we were able to get a true sense of just how sweet their story actually was. Their giggles and genuine expressions for each other was so joyful to capture.

Their wedding took place in Albany, New York at a venue on Crooked Lake. It was a windy and cold day in March, but the sun was so warm and everyone’s spirits were so radiant. The setting was very elegant indoors and the nature of the outdoors was so picturesque with willow trees and perfect little hidden pockets around the lake. Jennifer and Nick’s envisioned their day to feel calm, romantic and ethereal. Knowing the “feeling” of their day, we were able to really create some beautiful images that best represented their style and aesthetic. Jennifer had two beautiful dresses that she wore during the ceremony and reception. Her long cathedral veil blew so gracefully in the wind and wrapped around them during their first look where Nick saw Jennifer for the first time.

From The Bride…I was starting intern year as a pediatric resident in a hospital, and I had just moved in Albany. I wanted to get to know some people, so I joined a christian medical group at the hospital, and that’s where I met him. Initially, when we met, I guess he was attracted, so he tried to invite me over for group gatherings. The first group gathering, we were all going to a museum 45 minutes away, so he texted me to ask if I could give him a ride since he had just finished an overnight call as a surgery resident. So I agreed, and thats when we just started texting a lot. When I picked him up, it ended up we were the only two in the car so we had some really deep conversations. Very quickly we started talking more and more on the phone, and hanging out. Initially I was a little weary because we were talking so much and I was becoming attracted as well, but I wasn’t sure of his feelings for me. However, within 2 weeks of meeting each other, we confessed our feelings and started dating!

Nick proposed by taking me to the farmer’s market that morning, then blindfolding me and driving to the very museum that we had gotten to know each other. On the walk there, he played some songs he downloaded on an iPod and eventually when we got to the terrace, he played the soundtrack version of “I love you…For sentimental reasons” and we slow danced while he sang softly in my ear. There were a lot of random people around. Then he got down on one knee and proposed!

This Couple’s “Backup” Wedding Plans Couldn’t Have Been Better

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/su9pEiTGPcE/

It takes a special kind of couple to roll with the punches, especially when that means finding a new venue just months before the big day. Their backup location, Garden Grove proved to be a pretty incredible “plan B” and Jenna McElroy told the story behind her camera lens. Go see the celebration unfold in The Vault!

From Jenna McElroyCallie and Ian have an inspirational, contagious kind of love. When they were told mere months before their wedding date, that their original wedding venue would not be finished being built in time for their April 9 nuptials, the couple took everything in stride. They knew that everything happened for a reason, and that no matter what happened with the wedding details- that becoming husband and wife was the most important part, and that would happen venue or not.

They found a new venue- Garden Grove- and this was the very first wedding that the venue hosted. All of the vendors came together and helped to create a special, wonderful, and memorable day for this couple to remember and cherish forever.
