5 Brides Describe The Moment They Found The One—And We Don’t Mean The Groom

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/-GovOTeVkJk/

Few moments in life are as special as when a bride finally finds The One. And no, we’re not talking about the groom—although that’s pretty great, too! Surrounded by family, champagne ready to be popped, these brides prove that finding The Onethe dress—is one of the happiest moments of all time.

Alexandra Wilson

“My mom suggested going to try on dresses to get a better idea of what I loved and wanted in a dress, rather than what I didn’t want. We picked out a total of seven dresses to try on during our first shopping trip, and with each dress, I had a better idea of what I was looking for: something with lace, a little sparkle, and a beautiful back. I remember trying on the sixth dress, and the moment I saw it on, I knew it was “the one.” We were so excited, but also couldn’t believe the first day of dress shopping we found it!”

Kerri Polanski

“The dress was not at all what I had in mind for my wedding day. I had been letting stylists, my mom, and my sister pick everything out for me, but I went for one last look myself. This one caught my eye because of the red grosgrain ribbon detail on the inside of the dress. Since I was getting married February 13th, I thought it was such a special piece of Valentine’s Day, and our love story, that no one would see but us.”

Elizabeth Black DuCharme

“I went dress shopping with my family at a boutique near Baltimore, Maryland, where my husband and I met and still live. It was my first time trying on gowns, and my sister picked out a particular one that she thought I would love. It was only the second dress I tried on, and I just knew it was the one. I tried on a few dresses after to be safe, but nothing compared. I was in love with it and the blush-colored belt we picked out to complete the look.”

Alexandra Dalton

“I found my dress on a trip to New York City. At the time I was living in Washington State, and I flew in so that I could look for the perfect dress with the people I love. When I arrived at Saks, my maid of honor surprised me—I had no idea she would be there, and I knew it was going to be the day I would find my dress. As soon as I put it on, I could picture myself walking down the aisle with my Dad, and I knew I had found the one.”

Ashley Pepe

“I had been in love with Sareh Nouri’s designs from the moment I got engaged, and I found out she was hosting a trunk show at a boutique that was somewhat local. When I saw the date was the one-year anniversary of my dad’s passing, I knew it was fate. I went with my entire family—there were 11 of us. “The dress” was the first dress I tried on. I knew it was the one, and once the veil was on my head, it was immediate tears and champagne!”

The New Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection is Here and It’s Gorgeous!

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/tQP0bRoptZI/

We’re always a little skeptical when designers claim that their latest collection is the “most beautiful ever.” After all, they say it every season. But we’ve seen the Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection and we can confidently say that it really is the most beautiful collection ever. Exquisite lace, dazzling jewels and statement silhouettes take the 2018 Collection to crazy new levels of pretty!

As the models walked down the runway at Pronovias’ flagship New York City boutique, each dress seemed to be prettier than the last. With elegant lines and a fresh take on our favorite silhouettes, each handmade gown is dreamy as can be — plunging necklines, accentuated backs and leg-revealing slits play with proportions. But one of our favorite parts of the new collection? The stunning details, like draped sleeves, gemstone embroidery and convertible dresses!

Pronovias is known for the magic they make happen with lace, and the new Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection didn’t disappoint. Romantic lace and sheerness combined with silk thread and gemstone-edged floral motifs to create some major wow moments. Delicate gold and silver embroidery add the subtlest hint of color with seriously beautiful results.

Seriously, darlings, we could not be more in love with the Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection. And now that we’ve seen these gorgeous gowns, we’re counting down the days until Barcelona Bridal Week when the full Pronovias 2018 Collection will be revealed, because based on this sneak peek, it’s sure to be the prettiest collection ever!

A Clean, Modern Take on a New England Wedding

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/sYp7L7UDwnk/

In a day where clean lines and modern design reigns king, it only makes sense that the incredible Belle Mer plays backdrop. Set right on the sea, the venue was everything Samantha and Zach we’re looking for and the ever-fabulous Rebecca Arthurs captured the day from beginning to end.

From the bride, Samantha… Zach and I met in college at The University of Michigan, but we did not start dating until a few months after graduation when we lived in the same building in New York City.

My vision for the wedding was a formal evening with a modern sophistication in a waterfront location. My favorite moment of the wedding day was the first look – it was such an honest and raw moment and something special that I will always remember.

From the floral designer, Greenlion… Samantha and Zach both were drawn to clean lines and simplicity. We incorporated lush large philodendron leaves to add a contrast to the clean groupings of white hydrangea, tulip, and orchids we used in the centerpiece work. It complimented the space beautifully. The chuppah was hand-crafted from vines and we added lush organic style florals in greens whites and creams for a bold ceremony backdrop.

Big Sur Engagement After a Long Distance Love Affair

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/Q6FaAFn_ZI4/

This is my kind of e-sesh… bare feet in the sand, unreal views that will take your breath away and the sweetest hand-holding. Not to mention, this gorgeous Bride-to-be is on our west coast team. A little extra excuse to pop the bubbly and sit with this gallery from Christine Donee for a while longer. Also, don’t miss her charming story below of how they met!

From the Bride-to-be… Meeting in remote destinations, red-eye flights, and a sense of adventure was how Nick and I started our relationship five years ago. We dated for three years long distance between New York City (where I was an entertainment editor) and Hawaii (where Nick worked at Pearl Harbor), and somewhere between all the distance between us we just kept getting closer.

It only seemed fitting when Nick proposed in one of my favorite places in New York City’s Central Park, that we take engagement photos in one of our favorite destinations together — Big Sur, California. The rugged coastline, sweeping views of the Pacific, lush green bluffs, and the wild open of the California air were definitely calling. Thankfully, our incredible photographer Christine Donee was up for the adventure!

The early part of the day was rainy and blustery and as Nick and I drove the 5 hours up California’s Highway 1 in order to meet Christine in a remote section near Julia Pfeiffer State Park “just in time for magic hour” the hour was looking less than magical with storm clouds rolling in. And then in a twist of pure west coast magic, the storm clouds scattered away and we were lucky enough to get 1 hour of beautiful Big Sur weather for shots along the beaches and bluffs.

And then just like that we were off again, with me jetting off on a red-eye to Nashville to be on the red carpet at the CMA Awards the next morning and Nick headed to Los Angeles.

We’re so grateful to Christine for being able to capture this magic moment, where for a little while, time and distance seemed to stand still. We’re getting hitched in spring in 2017 in the equally gorgeous destination of Santa Ynez, California.

How Williams Sonoma and kate spade new york Will Help You Be the Hostess with the Mostest + an NYC Giveaway

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/6KiYZ7bULGg/

Delicious wine, yummy food and flowing conversation are three must-haves for any successful dinner party. But if you want to take your entertaining game to Hostess-with-the-Mostest status, (à la Abby Larson), an Insta-worthy tabletop is key. That’s where Williams Sonoma’s new collaboration with kate spade new york, the Sadie Street Dinnerware Collection, comes into play. And to prove it, we teamed up with them to host the ultimate dinner party in New York City.

Walking into the launch event at Haven’s Kitchen was like walking into your happy place. Think scrumptious cocktails in whimsical polka-dot-etched glasses, fresh flowers everywhere you look and French pop songs setting the tone for a joyous and playful evening. The evening’s goal? According to Abby, “not just to simply send a few pictures and tell you about the inspiration behind the Sadie Street collaboration — we wanted you to really get to know Saide. To spend an evening with her. To dine with her. And share a cocktail with her.”

After some delicious drinks and Abby’s anecdote of her first attempt at entertaining (hint: it didn’t go very well), the celebration continued with a four-course dinner plated up on the to-die-for new Sadie Street Collection’s whimsical dinnerware — it’s elegant and luxurious enough to pull out when your most important guests stop by and filet mignon is on the menu and it’s casual enough to serve a slice of homemade pizza and a big green salad on.

The collection is porcelain and it comes in three gorgeous palettes — a fun, vibrant turquoise, a blushy pink and a classic gray. And, if you’ve read SMP at all in the last few years, you know that blush is basically everything to us and that gray is basically the 2017 neutral tone that everyone wants. The crystal glassware with its etched detail is the perfect twist on a classic. And the stainless steel flatware with a knife that sits on it’s side is something so unique to this collection and really speaks to the whimsy of the line!

Whether you’re hosting an elegant dinner party with your closest friends, a romantic date night for two or brunch with the girls, Williams Sonoma and kate spade new york’s Sadie Street Dinnerware Collection is perfect for all your entertaining needs, and we will definitely cheers to that!

What: Win the ultimate trip to New York City from Williams Sonoma, kate spade new york and Style Me Pretty! Classic American-Mexican Affair with To-Die-For Bridal Portraits

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/tP1vGyKgqC4/

I think you’ll agree that among all of the breathtaking captures of this day by Ben Q Photography, the bridal portraits shine through the brightest. See? Eliza and Dan, you are striking—from the first look and leaving the ceremony to the first dance and the cake cutting (oh hey, Sugar Bee Sweets!), their love glows. Pin-worthy gallery? To say the least.

Please upgrade your browser

From the Bride… Dan and I met in New York City in the summer of 2013, while working together in the fashion industry. He proposed in January 2015 in Monterrey, Mexico, the city where I was born and raised. We decided to have a long engagement and take our time to plan our wedding since we could not decide on a location: beach or city in Mexico, New York City? We saw several options but none of them fully convinced us. A few months later, life took us to Dallas. We fell in love with the city and decided to have our wedding in our new hometown.

Since day one we knew we wanted to embrace both of our cultures and have a wedding with the best of Mexican and American traditions, resulting in a classic yet modern wedding. The traditional Mexican ceremony took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and our reception was held at Arlington Hall at Lee Park. We loved these locations because of their architecture, views and that elegant, timeless vibe they both exude. Working with our wedding planners, Elizabeth and Amanda at After Yes, Dan and I were solely involved in every aspect of the planning and decision making, which made it so much fun and made our wedding day truly ours. We decided on a day wedding and chose light colors: mostly white, ivory and shades of light peach, as well as lots of greenery and marble accents for floral and decor.

We both agree that our favorite moment of the day was when I walked down the aisle. It was an indescribable moment when so many emotions met. After so many months of waiting, I was nervous to see him and had butterflies in my stomach, just like I did on our first date.

Our advice for future brides and grooms: Make it a point and remind each other to enjoy each second of your wedding day. We will forever cherish and are so grateful for the moments we got to share with our families and closest loved ones, in what will always be one of the most special days of our lives.

NYC Elopement Straight Out of Vogue!

Original Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/typepad/style_me_pretty/~3/UUc7LI390CA/

There are elopements, and then there are elopements like Emily & Johann’s epic day. With an emphasis on iconic scenery, designer fashion and endless love, it’s no wonder the images by Katie Grant left our jaws dropped. Dive right into the full gallery here.

From Katie GrantAfter legally marrying in Hong Kong in a traditional ceremony, Emily & Johann decided they wanted to actually start their marriage in style by eloping to NYC for the celebrations. Vows were exchanged in Grammercy Park (where photos couldn’t be taken) and the two then roamed the famous streets of NYC for various iconic shots.

Lyndhurst Castle hosted their wedding meal while the NYC skyline set the stage for their portraits. Emily embraced the Grammercy feel and wore a Netta Benshabu gown for the ceremony with quirky teal Dolce & Gabanna shoes and red lip and then changed into a more classic look for the remainder of her day; sporting a stunning Inbal Dror gown and Louboutin shoes.

More From the Couple

From the Groom…Karissa and I have known each other from a very young age. We met in Junior High school and started dating our freshman year of high school. I knew very early on that I wanted to spend my life with this girl. It took me all of about two weeks to fall madly and deeply in love with her, and that was it. I don’t know how else to explain it other then “when you know, you know.” The best part about it is that I got to grow up with her and experience everything the teen and early adult years had to offer with my best friend, and not many people can say that. A couple years after high school we moved to Denver, in an attempt to began our lives together as young adults. At this point, asking Karissa to marry me was not simply of matter “if”, but “when” and “how”.

On Karissa’s 21st birthday, we traveled to New York City to spend the week there exploring and celebrating her special day. At approximately 10:30 pm, after taking a beautiful scenic cruise around Manhattan, we rushed to Time Square for a “special surprise” and “reservations” I told Karissa we had. With her hand on my mine, family behind us, and ring in my pocket, we barreled through the rows and rows of people to the dead center of Times Square and New York City itself, where everybody could see. It was then and there where I finally asked my best friend to join me in marriage and spend the rest of her life with me, and it was the best decision I ever made.

From the Bride…Wyatt and I started dating in high school when we were fourteen years old. I fell in love with him just two weeks later and I knew that he would be the one that I would marry. Now, nearly a decade later, everything that captivated me about him in the first place still remains the same. He’s my best friend.

Both of us were born and raised in a small town in New Mexico. We wanted a change of scenery for our wedding so that’s why we chose Pasadena, California. It was somewhat spontaneous considering we currently live in Denver, CO and got engaged in New York City. That sums us up though: we love travel, love adventure and we both have no idea where we might end up next.

April 22nd on a beautiful, crystal clear day in sunny Pasadena we said our “I Do’s” at Villa Del Sol d’Oro surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was the very best day of my life.
